LING 620: Phonological Theory

Linguistics 620 provides a high-level introduction to the mental representations and computations for human speech.
This term we will examine three phonemena in particular:

An integral part of the course is writing small computer scripts to solve the homework exercises using xfst

There is no final exam for this course.

Come to class prepared.
Read the chapters BEFORE we discuss them in class.
Class attendance and participation are absolutely essential-- IF you do not show up THEN you will not do well!
If you cannot attend class, it is your responsibility to contact me as soon as possible, preferably before the class.
Homework and tests must be handed in on time, otherwise you will receive a zero. Homework is generally due on the Tuesday after it is assigned.
